Born in Danubyu, Myanmar in 1960, Min Wae Aung is one of Burma's leading contemporary artists.
The artist draws his inspiration from the monks and nuns of Burma's Buddist monasteries. The daily rituals such as collecting alms and food, or young novices in temples are vividly portrayed with a wonderful sense of colour and clever composition.
Minn Wae Aung has successfully used shadow and light and a full range of colours to bring out the simplicity as well as grandeur of the traditional robes worn by the Buddist monatic order.
Min Wae Aung's "Travellers" (1994), is displayed in the Fukuoka Art Museum, Japan.
